The novelty factor of running around a stunning castle, listening to a sweeping and engaging soundtrack and casting spells like there's no tomorrow are the only things saving this game from being genuinely bad. It's far too short, for one thing. I kid you not, it took me about four hours to complete this game - and I collected "all" the collectables. It's also very repetitive. The basic game manic involves you walking into an area, hiding behind debris and shooting spells at wave after wave of death eaters/snatchers. That doesn't mean that this isn't fun, but just be aware of what you're getting into here. The story is completely linear this time, so there are no side quests like the previous game (whether this is good or bad is up to you) and the only locations you see are, obviously, Gringotts, Hogsmeade and Hogwarts unlike the first game which had many varied locations. The castle looks fantastic though, don't get me wrong. And the soundtrack, it's exceptional. Truly. It's also alot of fun being able to control a variety of characters (McGonagall, Mrs Weasley and Seamus Finnigan most of all). At points in the game the gameplay will change up a bit. There are a couple of purely 'boss' levels which are interesting but feel like filler. And there are levels or areas where you're running towards the screen trying to outrun whatever's chasing you. This is at its best near the end when Voldemort is chasing you down through Hogwarts. The normal difficulty setting is very easy, but the expert is much harder (I've yet to try the game on Advanced). As for the extra stuff, well, it's a mixed bag. You can collect Characters, Music and challenges throughout the main quest which you can then 'use' in the main menu. The challenges involve you going back to each of the 12 levels and trying to finish them as quickly and efficiently as possible to get a rating (which can be posted online). In my opinion though, these challenges are not worth the hassle, as I seem to average silver on the ones I've bothered trying (platinum is the best). The graphics are, as I can tell, identical to the last game (which were good) and the voice acting is 50/50. Some is great (The trio), some is not (Snape. Oh god Snape! :P). In conclusion, this game will hold your attention if you're a fan of Harry Potter. The novelty of being involved in the battle of Hogwarts is great. Both if you're a general gamer, you'll probably only want to pick this up to add to your achievement/trophy points. (P.S. You can apparate in this game. This is quite fun, but it's a bit clumsy and you unlock it late in the game).
