Assassin's Creed is set in 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history.

amazing!
What a let down - this is proof that great graphics does not alone make a great game. Assassins Creed is beautiful to look at and hopping around the rooftops is great fun at first but you will soon realise who shallow and linear this game is. The first assasination sees you eavedrop on a conversation, pickpocket some dude and rough someone up to gain information on the hit before actually taking them out. Its a shame then that every subsequent mission sees you carrying out this very same task again and again. Then theres hidng from the guards...its handy that there are lots of straw bails and roof gardens around the city because these are the only places you can hide. This lack of variety made me bored of AC very quickly. Worth a look at see the impressive townscapes but don't buy.
At first, this game seemed awesome, hopping around rooftops and climbing up huge buildings is always good fun but for me, this was the only good part of the game. Over time it became very repetetive and not very exciting, the lack of varied 'side missions' didnt help. Its worth renting, but not buying.
Didn't really like this game at all, if I wanted to watch loads of movie type footage, I'd have bought a DVD.
Well worth the wait the graphics are fantastic, the game play at first takes a little while to get use to but once you get the hang of it, it is great. I like the way you can go almost anywhere in the environment you are in and the fact that you can climb nearly everthing. The twist in the story makes an interesting ending and I can only assume there will be an second game. I must confess I found some of the mission a little bit frustrating as you had to the same bit again and again until you got it right having said that it did make it more chellenging.
