The game is set in feudal Japan, during the "Sengoku" period where numerous warlords and heroic individuals are struggling to unify the country. When the political power of the Ashikaga Shogunate collapsed in the succession dispute of 1467, the island of Japan erupted in a series of major wars. This era in history became known as the as the Sengoku or "warring states" period.   Samurai Warriors explores this dramatic era and combines it with the Tactical Action excitement that KOEI has become well known for.   The player lives in the "Sengoku" period as either a famous warlord, a Samurai warrior, a stealthy Ninja or as a Kunoichi - a female Ninja.   Survive historical battles such as the Battle of Okehazama, the Battle of Kawanakajima, the clashes at Azuchi Castle and at Odawara Castle and decide your own fate.
