Players prove that rhythm is life by tapping in sync with the beat in order to restore Beat City to the vibrant, melodious city it once was and rid the city of the evil Cacophony Corporation which bring nothing but monotony to the city. The better the player is at keeping the beat the more stars they will earn. Beat City also features a Stairway to Heaven challenge which upon completion, changes the ending of the story and unlocks a game mode, adding to the games' replay-ability.
