Tom, Hannah, and their cousin Jake are on holiday with their families at a huge, lakeside summer house. When the TV suddenly loses picture and the kids go to check on the satellite dish, they encounter robots under the control of diminutive aliens. The kids soon discover that the aliens' technology can take over the minds of adults and that these extraterrestrials have come to Earth in search of a buried machine that will some how aid them in their invasion.
